Our customer wanted a home renovation solution that preserved the rustic look of his Riverside Cottage. The home had a wrap around porch that was so badly deteriorated that it was almost unusable. Though it was so deteriorated demolishing it completely and building new would not have preserved the roof lines or the original siding.
We were able to redo the foundation underneath the porch and rebuild from the bottom up. After that it was a simple matter to level the floors and reframe the walls to accept the new windows. Since the space was originally uninsulated and considered “outside”, we insulated it and rean heat. This allowed the porch to be opened up to the rest of the home. We were also able to expand the kitchen into a portion of the porch effectively doubling the size of the kitchen and allowing for amazing views of the river.
Now this formerly unusable space is a comfortable seating area with great views of the garden and the kitchen is roomy with lots of natural light.
